Edgar ‘Ed’ Eubanks, 94

Edgar “Ed” Eubanks, age 94, a resident of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away April 18, 2018, at Garden Plaza Assisted Living in Post Falls, Idaho. Ed was born Dec. 30, 1923, in Harlan, Ky., to Raymond and Ola (Brock) Eubanks. He grew up mostly in Kentucky, but spent a couple of teenaged years on his uncle’s cattle ranch near Dupuyer, Mont., an experience that left him a cowboy at heart for all his remaining years.

A proud veteran, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II, afterward working in the defense industry for some 30 years; first at Douglas Aircraft in Santa Monica, Calif., and then as a contract executive at Hughes Aircraft in El Segundo, Calif.

On Jan. 10, 1942, Ed married Willene Lewis in Los Angeles and over the next five years they had four children: Bill, Donna, Jerry and David. In 1976, Ed and Willene moved to Sacramento, Calif., where he worked as an independent building contractor for 20 years. In 1998 they moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to be closer to three of their children.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; his only siblings, Mac and Mary; by his wife, Willene, in 2012 and by his daughter, Donna, in 2015. He is survived by his three sons, Bill, Jerry and David; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Ed was a kind, good and generous man who loved his family more than anything, and his passing has left a deep and painful void in all of us.

A graveside service for Ed will be held in Williamsburg, Ky., on June 15, 2018.

English Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements. Please sign Ed’s online memorial at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
