| April 25, 2018 1:00 AM

COEUR d’ALENE — Emma Gray hit a two-run home run in the first game and Haley Loffer hit two solo home runs in the nightcap, powering the visiting Lake City Timberwolves to a 18-0, 6-0 sweep of the Coeur d’Alene Vikings in 5A Inland Empire League play on Tuesday at Larry Schwenke Field.

Abby Jankay had two RBIs in the first game and Abby Gray hit a solo home run in the second game for Lake City (15-2, 8-0 5A IEL), which hosts Post Falls on Friday.

“Everyone just hit the ball really well today,” said Lake City coach Jesse Lenz, who was without starting pitcher Ashley Kaufman due to injury.

Natalie Sell had 10 strikeouts and Hailey Lyons broke up a no-hitter in the fourth inning of the second game for Coeur d’Alene (5-13, 3-5), which travels to Lewiston on Saturday.

“We didn’t show up to play in the first game at all,” Coeur d’Alene coach Lindsie Scholwinski said. “Lake City came to play. We had players play positions today they’ve never played due to missing two seniors. Natalie kept us in the second game for a while. Overall, we’ve got lots of work to do and know what to expect for next Tuesday when we play them again.”
