GIVE: So many options

| April 25, 2018 1:00 AM

Each month 20 to 30 nonprofits get together to share ideas, hear presentations, and plan collaborative events like Idaho Gives — a 24-hour day of online giving to benefit Idaho nonprofits. I am incredibly proud to help our community’s nonprofits collaborate through Idaho Gives to make a big splash on May 3.

Idaho Gives is a day to pick your favorite nonprofits, and simply give. It’s that easy. Any donation you make has the potential of being multiplied through matching gifts, golden tickets and other prize drawings throughout the 24-hour period.

As executive director of The Village at Orchard Ridge, of course I will take the opportunity to donate to my own nonprofit. But I also am a breast cancer survivor, a proud owner of an adopted pet and frequent library user. Idaho Gives allows me to have a direct impact on a variety of nonprofits representing causes I believe in. Thursday, May 3 is a day that will have a ripple effect throughout our community and state.

Last year Kootenai County nonprofits raised $30,714 through Idaho Gives, but I know we can see bigger numbers this year. The overall statewide goal is to raise $1.5 million for Idaho nonprofits, and the work we do right here in our own community is a big part of that.

Let’s show the rest of the state how supportive, involved and passionate we are about Kootenai County causes. Donate to a cause you care about on May 3 at IdahoGives.org.
