ABORTION: Look it up

Our state senator Bob Nonini suggested that women having abortions be subject to the death penalty. The Kootenai County Republican Central Committee passed a unanimous resolution that abortion is murder. These bad, bad uglies come to us courtesy of Steve Cameron, Press column, Apri 13.

For anyone unaware, but those especially hell-bent to make abortion a crime, please take note: This country already has a history of criminalized abortion, nearly a century of it and it is not pretty.

A book written in 1996 by historian Leslie Reagan, “When Abortion Was a Crime,” is recommended reading for anyone interested in the subject.

But another thought on this ... just incidentally, wouldn’t outlawing abortion put the female’s “accomplice” in jeopardy? If he did the deed and then advised her to abort the baby and she did it, couldn’t he be prosecuted as a conspirator? Next time I run into Senator Nonini, I think I’ll ask him about that.
