Rathdrum planting event to celebrate Monarch designation

RATHDRUM — The community is invited to a planting event in celebration of Rathdrum becoming the first city in the state to receive the Monarch City USA designation to help bring back the Monarch butterfly population.

The event organized by the city and Rathdrum Garden Club will be held at the Community Garden next to the Parks and Recreation Department on Saturday, April 28, at 1 p.m.

The goal is to create a migration corridor for the butterflies. Feel free to bring garden tools to the event.

Doughnuts and refreshments will be provided to all volunteers.
