Dennis Michael Rose, 77

Dennis Michael Rose was born in Hawthorne, Calif. on June 6, 1940, and was called home to God on April 14, 2018, in Hayden, Idaho. Dennis grew up in Hawthorne. He was educated at Long Beach State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in education. Dennis later acquired a master’s degree in education at Pepperdine University in 1978.

Dennis married Virginia “Ginger” Lynn Priolo on Dec. 16, 1962. He and his wife have two children, Steven and Shelley. Dennis and Ginger celebrated 55 years of marriage last December.

Dennis began his teaching career at Beryl School in Redondo Beach, Calif. He taught the fourth grade for 17 years. He and his family later moved to Carson City, Nev., where he taught the sixth grade, and later the fifth grade, at Fremont Elementary school for 25 years. After his retirement, he and his wife moved to Hayden, Idaho to be near his three granddaughters. Dennis then self-published two of his own books: “The Story of Our Country” and “The Campaigns of Tamerlane.”

Dennis enjoyed being a school teacher. He loved history and loved to make history come alive for his students. Some of his memorable lessons were on Alexander the Great, the Roman Phalanx and the American Revolutionary War. He inspired children and created a legacy for learning. Dennis’ history will live on in the students he instructed.

Dennis was an avid collector of comic books and vintage toys from his childhood. He was an amateur astronomer and built several of his own telescopes. He enjoyed gardening with his wife and spending time with his family.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Ginger Rose; his son, Steven Rose; his daughter, Shelley Asher; his son-in-law, Aaron Asher; and three granddaughters, Sophie Asher, Lily Asher and Noelle Asher. He will be greatly missed.
