Whittemore, Bonacho win at Post Falls tourney

POST FALLS — Coeur d’Alene freshman Madi Whittemore beat Sandpoint’s Allura Livingston 5-2 in the girls singles championship match in the Post Falls “Best of Nine” tournament on Saturday.

The tournament was hosted by Post Falls High and played across five sites in the area, with players competing in a best-of-nine set match in pool and bracketed play.

Moscow won the team title with 96 points, followed by Sandpoint with 71.

Division I foes

Coeur d’Alene, which plays in Division II in lacrosse, lost to Division I Timberline of Boise 13-8 on Saturday at East Boise Junior High.

On Friday, Coeur d’Alene fell 12-2 at Rocky Mountain of Meridian.

Chandler Johnson scored five goals for Coeur d’Alene vs. Timberline. Keeper Seth Harrison faced 87 shots in the two games.

Coeur d’Alene next plays at Moscow on Tuesday and at Lake City on Thursday.
