Earl ‘EG’ George

EG Lunceford, 77, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, died Dec. 7, 2017, at his home in San Carlos, Mexico. Born Sept. 17, 1940, in Coeur d’Alene, to Earl and June (Kelly) Lunceford. EG grew up in Coeur d’Alene and graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1958. While growing up, EG was actively involved at St. Thomas Catholic Church. In addition, EG achieved the highest rank of Eagle Scout while in the Boy Scouts of America, with the support of his parents, who actively participated in the program. He then joined the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Bremerton, Wash.

Through attending the University of Washington, EG became a physician’s assistant and a heart lung perfusionist. He would later launch his career by founding Coast Medical Corporation, a medical electronic company in Concord, Calif. There, EG worked tirelessly for nearly two decades to service the entire West Coast with essential surgical and medical equipment. Later, after returning to Northern Idaho, EG founded Lunceford Associates, which resulted in an office and marketing location in Moscow, Russia, for over a decade. EG found much professional success and was thrilled to be able to give back to his community. EG donated both his time and money to the Kootenai Medical Center Foundation and Camp Easton, as well as St. Pius X Catholic Church.

From the time EG was a boy, he inherited the passion for hunting and fishing from both his father and grandfather. He spent his childhood in the woods of Priest River, Idaho, developing a love and understanding of how to best become a true sportsman. EG’s passion for hunting resulted in the opportunity to pursue wildlife in five different continents, becoming number 509 in the Grand Slam Record Book. Aviation became another passion, leading to Earl’s certifications in lear jets, complex twin aircrafts, helicopters and float planes. Many memories were also made both skiing and boating with loved ones.

He is survived by his wife, Judy, of 34 years. EG is also survived by five children from a previous marriage: daughter Susan Rae, of Concord, Calif., son Frank Andrew, of Hayden, Idaho, son David Karl, of Coeur d’Alene, daughter Patricia Clara, of Clayton, Calif., son Gary Floyd, of Coeur d’Alene; his sister, Linda Poole, and her family, of Coeur d’Alene; grandchildren Andrew Nicholson, Jessica Byers, Zachary Byers, EG Lunceford, Hattie Lunceford, Samantha Jones, Jacob Lunceford, Kelly Lunceford, Lucy Lunceford and Mallory Lunceford; great-grandchildren, Andy Nicholson, Ace Nicholson and Emmy Nicholson.

Memorial Mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 625 E. Haycraft, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
