He then opened Post Falls Machine and operated that business in his spare time until his death. In 2016 he began working at Andritz Hydro as a machinist, repairing hydro-electric dam parts. He was working there until his death.

Norm was first married to Mary Hay and together they had two children. They were later divorced. He later met Fran Sheppard and they were married on June 2, 2012, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

He loved everything the outdoors had to offer including camping and four-wheeling. He also enjoyed sport shooting, collecting guns, reloading and his German shepherd dogs.

Norm is survived by his loving wife, Fran, of the family home in Post Falls, Idaho; one son, Chris (Rebecca) Kuhlman of Otis Orchards, Wash.; a daughter, Wendy (Greg) Smith of Dalton Gardens, Idaho; two step-sons, Toby Lynn of Grand Coulee, Wash., and Nate Lynn of Wilbur, Wash.; two brothers, Ronald (Linda) Kuhlman of Coeur d’Alene and Melvin (Debbie) Kuhlman of Cle Elum, Wash.; one sister, Candy Primmer of Coeur d’Alene; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.
