Coeur d’Alene High School Theatre Department’s production of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” opened Thursday and continues today Saturday and next weekend on the CHS stage.

This Broadway hit is based on one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most loved stories and the classic animated film.

“This musical is a beautiful story of the desire to follow your dreams in order to discover a whole new world,” said a news release. “The cast includes a brilliant array of veteran and new CHS actors ready to entertain audiences of all ages.”

The show includes music by eight-time Academy Award winner, Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater and a book by Doug Wright.

Described as a show that “will delight all,” its music includes iconic pieces like “Under the Sea,” “Kiss the Girl,” and “Part of Your World.”

The show runs at 7 p.m. today, Saturday and April 26, 27 and 28 in the Coeur d’Alene High School Fahringer Auditorium, located at 5530 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene. Tickets are $9/adults, $8/students and seniors, and $7 for CHS students with an ASB card and students 6 and younger.
