Kathryn Lee (Holland) Booth

On April 16, 2018 our Kathy passed away peacefully after a brief illness. Kathy was born August 21, 1951, in Lewiston, Idaho to Edwin and Lee Ann Holland. The family later moved to Kellogg, Idaho where she attended school and graduated from Kellogg High School in 1969.

Kathy was an accomplished vocalist and pianist, winning many regional and district awards. She was named Miss Kellogg in 1969 and Miss Silver Valley in 1970. She was a finalist in the Miss Idaho pageant, and the following year, the Idaho State pageant committee invited her to co-host and perform in that year’s pageant in Boise.

Kathy attended North Idaho College where she met her future husband, Bill Booth, when they both performed in the N.I.C. Jazz Choir. Kathy and Bill were married on August 20, 1971 and they attended the University of Idaho together. When Bill graduated he was commissioned an officer in the United States Air Force. He was stationed at Minot Air Force Base, Minot, N.D. They made good friends at Minot and Kathy was the leader of the Officers’ Wives Choir. In 1978 they moved back to the Kellogg area where Bill was an executive in the North Idaho Mining Industry. They eventually moved to Coeur d’Alene where they raised their family.

Kathy was a stay-at-home mom for their three children and she also did volunteer work for Hospice and Kootenai Medical Center. Kathy was a woman of deep faith. She was a warm, gracious and compassionate lady with a delightful, quirky sense of humor that we will all miss greatly. Her favorite place in the world was their cabin on the North Fork of the Coeur d’Alene River. Her greatest joy was her family and she was deeply involved in the lives and pursuits of her children. She especially cherished her eight beautiful grandchildren.

Kathy is survived by her dear husband of 46 years, Bill Booth; beloved children, David (Danielle) Booth, Katie (Corey) Parsons and Steven (Molly) Booth; grandchildren, Rachel (Chase) Stoltey, Bethany, Braeden, Jeffrey, Megan, Zoey and Ethan Parsons and Lily Booth (another grandchild is due in June); her mother, Lee Ann Holland; brother, Dave (Debbie) Holland and sisters, Nicki Kohal, Lisa (Michael) Ouimet, Janlyn (Kenny) Cleveland, Amy (Tim) Arnhold, Jill (Paul) Berger and numerous, much-loved nieces and nephews, who loved their Auntie Kathy dearly. She is also survived by Bill’s sisters, Betsy (Tom) Greene and Cora Lynn (Ron) Montague, and brother-in-law, P.J. Jennings along with many more dear nieces and nephews. Kathy was preceded in death by her beloved father, Edwin Keith Holland; precious nephew, Chad Berger and dear brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Alan Kohal, Rob Fink and Robin Jennings.

The family especially wants to thank the wonderful nurses and caregivers at Crest Hospice of Coeur d’Alene. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Kathy’s sister-in-law, Debbie Holland. Debbie’s tireless and loving care of Kathy was a God-given blessing to her and the entire family.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family requests that, if desired, donations be made in Kathy’s memory to: Kings Highway Ministry, P.O. Box 3111, Coeur d’Alene, ID 83816.
