Volunteers sought for Tubbs Hill Cleanup

| April 17, 2018 1:00 AM

The annual Tubbs Hill Spring Cleanup on Sunday, April 22, has an international connection this year.

The Tubbs Hill Foundation recently received a note from travelers Rina and Yuval Eshel of Israel. While walking Tubbs Hill last September they met Kim Ashbaugh, a Coeur d’Alene resident who walks the paths every day with a trash bag. She gave them directions to the top and a map. The Tubbs Hill Foundation knows Kim as “Walkabout.”

The spring cleanup will be 9 a.m. to noon Sunday with trash bags and free coffee at the Third Street entrance. To ensure a thorough job, volunteers are needed to help with the cleanup. Bring gloves.

The Tubbs Hill Foundation also will have an information table at the Earth Day celebration from noon to 3 p.m. in the library.

A new highlight will be items with engraved Tubbs Hill waterfront photos made special and available for purchase at the Long Ear store with donations to the Tubbs Hill Foundation. These include mugs, tumblers, notepads, magnets, puzzles and decals.
