The North Idaho Fair and Rodeo Foundation recently awarded $8,500 in scholarships to area youths.

Scholarship recipients include Kassidy Bane, Shelby Anderson, Cheyenne Ross, Raechel Wright, Sydney Olson, Tamara Balderrama, Mackenzie Daniels and Lydia Gross.

Funds for the scholarships came from sponsors of the annual Cowboy Ball on April 6 at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds.

Sponsors include Kootenai/Shoshone Farm Bureau, Knudtsen Chevrolet, Livestock Boosters, Inc., Findlay Post Falls, Gem State Mule Company, Idaho Forest Group, North Idaho Fair and Rodeo Foundation and Tom and John Richards. The money raised at the Cowboy Ball event is used for scholarships and capital improvements at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds.

The North Idaho Fair and Rodeo Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established to help perpetuate the annual Fair and Kootenai County Fairgrounds by preserving memories and assuring that new ones can be made.
