Cardinal men win tourney at Avondale

HAYDEN LAKE — Led by sophomore Sean Langham, the North Idaho College men’s golf team remained undefeated for the spring season, winning a Northwest Athletic Conference match hosted by the Cardinals that concluded Monday at Avondale Golf Club.

NIC shot 596, 17 strokes ahead of second-place Bellevue.

Langham, a University of Idaho commit, was medalist after shooting a 1-under 143 (73-70). Ben Harvey and Todd Henderson each tied for ninth at 153.

Chase Mitchell of Community Colleges of Spokane, formerly of Coeur d’Alene High, tied for third at 149 (71-78).

NIC’s women shot 512 and finished third. Columbia Basin shot 493 and won by 18 shots over Community Colleges of Spokane. Sophomore Mikal Jerman led the Cardinals, shooting a 170 and tying for fifth. Madi Brown tied for seventh at 171. Savanna Routh of Spokane, formerly of Post Falls High, finished fourth at 167 (85-82).

The Cardinals return to action April 29-30th at the Skagit Valley NWAC league tournament in Burlington, Wash.
