LIBRARY: Friends, step forward

| April 13, 2018 1:00 AM

I am writing to let you know about the Community Library Foundation, a 501-(-3 organization. We have seven library buildings in our District — Athol, Harrison, Hayden, Pinehurst, Post Falls, Rathdrum and Spirit Lake, plus a bookmobile. The foundation raises funds to pay for projects in the different libraries. We think the libraries are an important part of our community for our adults and children.

Our buildings are old, with the majority built in 1992 and the Post Falls library built in 1999. They need to be updated to meet the needs of our communities. More space for children and adult programs, areas designated as quiet, movable bookshelves, and spaces to experiment with and learn technology are all on our radar — at all of our locations. We need your help and support in raising funds to support projects for our libraries. We also need more volunteers and board members. Our Board meets once a month at the Post Falls Library.

The core of a community is its library. We are proud of our libraries and our children. Our country faces many challenges and libraries play a big part in meeting those challenges. Our libraries also support our schools and teachers and give our children the opportunity to increase their reading skills.

We ask for your support and help in this effort. Thank you so much for your involvement and interest in our libraries. Please drop us a note or call or attend our meetings each month. You can learn more about us: CommunityLibrary.net/foundation
