FULCHER: Best of the bunch
The Republican lineup of candidates for Idaho’s 1st Congressional District House seat seems to have several decent choices but my favorite is Russ Fulcher, who combines his Constitution-true track record in Idaho state government with a graduate degree in business, a long private-sector career in the leading-edge, Idaho-based computer industry and his formative years spent on his family’s dairy farm in the Treasure Valley. In that I share a similar background, having left my parents’ small farm to move in with a larger neighboring dairy farmer to be his farm hand throughout my high school years in southern Minnesota.
Several years ago Fulcher held a public meeting at Northwest Pony Express in Coeur d’Alene, where I worked as a firearms salesman. I listened to him and had a chance to talk with him and was impressed with his knowledge, bearing and demeanor.
Fulcher understands the forethought of our Founders and he embraces the foundations of our center-right country built upon Greco-Roman philosophy, English law and Judeo-Christian morality.
That he stands firmly astride humanity’s best experiment in self-governance gives me hope for the preservation of our freedoms at the national level.
