COEUR d’ALENE — Get equipped to prevent suicide in as little as 90 minutes at the Coeur d’Alene High School Auditorium Thursday, April 12 from 6:30-8 p.m. Anyone in the community may attend this free training organized by the Coeur d’Alene School District and based on the QPR Institute’s method. QPR stands for “Question, Persuade, and Refer.”

“Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help,” said the QPR Institute website.

Each participant will receive a QPR booklet and card with information on suicide prevention, in addition to local resource information. For more information about the QPR Institute and suicide prevention gatekeeper training, visit www.qprinstitute.com. For more information about QPR in Coeur d’Alene School District schools, email info@cdaschools.org or call 208-664-8241.

The Coeur d’Alene High School Auditorium is located at 5530 N. Fourth St. in Coeur d’Alene.
