Injuries reported in I-90 apple truck crash
COEUR d’ALENE — A four-vehicle accident resulted in injuries Saturday afternoon on Interstate 90 near Fourth of July Pass, Idaho State Police reported.
At 3 p.m., a semitruck loaded with apples was traveling eastbound at milepost 29.6. Its driver, In Kim, 58, of Yelm, Wash., failed to negotiate a left curve and struck the concrete center median barrier, dislodging it into the westbound lane, police reported.
A 2002 Ford F250 pickup truck, driven by Russell Filler, 54, of Coeur d’Alene, was traveling westbound and struck the barrier which had been pushed into his lane. Filler subsequently hit a semitruck and trailer driven westbound by Amin Shamasna, 34, of Oak Lawn, Ill., police reported.
Police said a fourth vehicle — a 2013 Ford Flex driven by Brandon Carhart, 28, of Coeur d’Alene — also received damage from crash debris.
Unspecified injuries were reported by police, and the incident remained under investigation at press time. Filler and Carhart were wearing seat belts; seat belt use was unknown for the other drivers.
I-90 was reduced to one lane in each direction for approximately five hours after the crash.
