Edith Marie Reed, 94

Edith Marie Reed, age 94, a resident of Dalton Gardens, Idaho, died on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2017, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, due to Alzheimer’s issues.

She was born Feb. 15, 1923, in Burlington, Colo., to George and Vera (Coe) Martens. She moved with her family in 1934 from Colorado to Idaho, then in 1936 from Idaho to Kansas, then in 1938 back to Idaho. She was the last of 10 siblings to pass away.

Edith married Phillip Reed in 1947, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She was a homemaker and will be remembered by her family for her baking skills. She also worked alongside her husband Phil on the farm at Mica Flats for many years before selling and moving to Dalton Gardens because of age and health issues.

Edith was a former longtime member of the Mica Grange and presently was a member of the Dalton Gardens Church of Christ and their Ladies Bible Study Group.

Edith is survived by several nieces and nephews, including locally, Michael Martens of Dalton Gardens and Karen Trusty, George P. English and Bruce A. English, all of Coeur d’Alene. She was preceded in death by husband, Phil, on Jan. 3, 2002, and nine siblings, including locally, brothers, Paul Martens and John (Elmer) Millheisler.

Edith’s memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. this Saturday, April 7, 2018,, at the Dalton Gardens Church of Christ, located at Fourth and Hanley in Dalton Gardens.
