Dorothy Marie ‘Dottie’ Dorsey, 96

Dorothy Marie “Dottie” Dorsey was born May 6, 1921, to Pete and Marie (Shoen) Classen in Appleton, Minn.

She graduated from Appleton High School and moved to Long Beach, Calif. While there, she worked as a retail clerk. She met her husband, who was from North Carolina, in San Diego, Calif., and was united in marriage to Hugh Mason (Rick) Dorsey on Aug. 12, 1943. This union was blessed by two children, Rick Charles and Sheila Marie, as well as an adopted daughter, Kaitlyn Livingston.

Dottie was able to share 61 years of marriage before Hugh’s death in 2004.

Dottie enjoyed her role as a retired mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She also enjoyed family activities, sewing, arts and crafts, coloring, reading and camping with family and friends.

Dottie began her study of the Bible in the early 1950s and dedicated her life to Jehovah and symbolized this by water baptism on Dec. 7, 1957. For almost 61 years she served zealously as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

In 2004, she moved with her children from California to Idaho.

Dottie died peacefully on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, having reached the age of 96.

She is survived by her children, Rick Charles (Berta) Dorsey of Blanchard, Idaho, Sheila Marie (Richard) Porter of Rathdrum, Idaho, and Kaitlyn (David) Livingston of Des Moines, Wash.; three granddaughters, Brenda, Kerry and Tonia; three grandsons, Jeffrey, Jeremy and Kelly; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Lois (Val) Roggenbuck of Odessa, Minn. and Patricia (Len) Falk of Sioux Falls, S.D.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Harold (Leona) Classen and Jr (Elvera) Classen; sister, Helen (Lonnie) Baldridge and her parents.
