Sharon

Brill, 85

Sharon Brill, 85, of Sandpoint, Idaho, passed away peacefully on the evening of March 10, 2018. Her two daughters, Debra and Molly, were by her side.

Born Dec. 27, 1932, in Centralia, Wash., to John and Dorothea Riggs, Sharon was an only child. She attended local Everett schools, graduating from Everett High School in 1951. Sharon met and married William Brill in Everett in 1957; they were married for 59 years. Bill died in July 2016. Sharon was also preceded in death by Matthew Jay Brill, the son of Bill and Sharon.

In addition to her daughters, Debra (Bruce) Genung and Molly (Howard) Hustoft, Sharon was a devoted grandmother to her five grandsons, Ryan, Nate (Sarah), Alex (Kim), Luke and T.J. Sharon was absolutely thrilled to have two new great-grandchildren, Reed (6 months) and Charlotte (6 weeks). Sharon is also survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Pat Brill of Washington.

Sharon had a professional career in the mortgage industry before retiring in 1989 to Sandpoint, Idaho. She enjoyed skiing and was known for her speed and grace on the ski hill; she was a longtime member of Schweitzer Primetimers Ski Club. Sharon was also a dedicated CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteer for 10 years, serving as a voice for vulnerable children in the Bonner County court system. Her commitment to helping her CASA kids settle into safe and loving homes was inspiring. In addition, Sharon was an active volunteer with the Community Assistance League and their volunteer run thrift shop, Bizarre Bazaar, in Sandpoint.

Sharon loved to read and belonged to book clubs nearly all her life, including two in Sandpoint. She loved to entertain and organize social events with her friends and family. Sharon was also a hiker and loved boating in the San Juan Islands. She was a good friend, always remembering special occasions with cards and notes. Sharon was devoted to her dog, Barney, who has been adopted by close family friends.

Sharon will be missed tremendously.

There will be a celebration of Sharon’s life at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2018, on the south lawn at Trinity at City Beach, 58 Bridge St., Sandpoint.
