MOSCOW — Seniors Bri Baldree and Audrey Mattila each had big games in the circle and at the plate, leading Sandpoint to a 18-0, 15-9 sweep of Moscow in a 4A Inland Empire League softball doubleheader on Saturday.

Baldree struck out nine and allowed just three hits to lead the Bulldogs (3-5, 2-0 4A IEL) to a shutout in the opener, as the offense pounded out 17 hits and scored six runs in the first and seven in the fourth in the blowout, a nice bounceback after a tough extra-inning loss to West Valley on Friday.

Baldree also smacked three hits and scored four runs, Tanis Davis had three hits and scored three runs, Bri Barlow and Mattila each had three hits, Ember Dewey drove in three runs and Kaitlan Ward scored three times to lead the offensive explosion.

Davis earned the win in the second game with three strong innings, while Mattila fanned six in her two innings of work, as the Bulldogs once again jumped out early with six runs in the first.

Mattila scored four runs, Baldree and Ward scored three times each, Bri Barlow extended her hitting streak to eight games with two RBIs and Madisyn Kucherry drove in a pair in the nightcap, as the Bulldogs plated a whopping 33 runs in the doubleheader against the Bears (0-2 4A IEL).

“We moved a lot of people around on defense today in both games. We were very strong no matter where people were playing. They found that defensive intensity and they’re performing at a high level,” praised Bulldogs head coach Elizabeth Hawkins-Williams, calling them two huge league wins. “Audrey struck out almost every batter she saw in two innings. Baldree dominated when she was in there, they just could not put the ball in play against her.”

The Bulldogs return to action at home against Lakeland on April 12.

MOSCOW — Tyler Shaffer and Billy Brackett had strong days at the plate, as the Bulldogs split a 4A Inland Empire League doubleheader with the Bears.

Shaffer had a double and two RBIs, and Trey Flint and Thomas Riley had doubles in defeat, as the Bulldogs (6-2, 1-1 4A IEL) scored five runs in the final two innings to close the gap.

Lehman took his first loss to drop to 2-1 on the year.

In game two, Billy Brackett smacked three hits, drove in three runs and scored twice to lead the Bulldogs to an 8-5 win. Sandpoint plated three runs in the top of the seventh to break open a tie game and earn a key split.
