Merle Alvin Keeney, 72

Merle Alvin Keeney, 72, loving husband of Charlotte Bouley (2016-18) and Julie Keeney (1969-2013), wonderful father of Nate and Grant Keeney, and proud Papa, died from cancer on March 13, 2018.

Merle grew up in Albion, Wash., graduated from Oregon State University and then served in the Navy for five years. He worked for Honeywell for 20+ years and then in business management and consulting before retiring in 2013. While living in Bellevue, Wash., for 23 years, he served on the Bellevue Parks Department for eight years, and was Chair of the Board for four years.

His passion for baseball continued through his entire life as he played Men’s Senior Baseball well into his 60s. In 2014, he moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and married Charlotte in 2016.

He is survived by his sons, Nate (Becky) and Grant (Julie); wife Charlotte; sisters and brothers Susan Wintermute (Will), Lorri Pace (Russell), Ruth Westerbeck (Rich) and Walt Johnson (Joyce); grandchildren (Evan, Kiera and Nick); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Keeney (Martha) and Jewell Johnson (Walt); and his wife (mother of Nate and Grant), Julie Keeney.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2018, at Central Lutheran Church, 1710 11th Ave., Seattle, Wash.
