CONSUMER: Ramsey is right

| October 27, 2017 1:00 AM

Thank you Consumer Guy for recognizing Dave Ramsey in your article, Oct. 19, “Debt is a Vampire.”

For two years, I have followed the Dave Ramsey podcast and radio station listening to callers with their financial woos. Ramsey has changed my attitude in the way I think, spend, save and give money.

In his book “Total Money Makeover,” he explains the 7 Baby Steps to getting out of debt. It’s a common sense, practical concept but the work is hard, takes commitment and accountability if you have debt. He explains that a household budget is key to control spending and saving money.

Sadly, financial planning, goals and budgets are not taught in our high schools.

Presently, I am taking Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University program at Christ The King Lutheran Church. It’s a nine-week program that teaches you how to pay off debt, change your financial lifestyle and plan for retirement.

Live below your means. If you don’t have the cash, you can’t afford it.

As Bill says in his article, Bottom line: Don’t spend what you don’t have.
