Sheileagh

Patricia

Leens, 77

Sheileagh Patricia Leens, 77, passed away peacefully on Oct. 12, 2017. Our beloved mother was blessed with the fulfillment of her greatest request when she went to our Lord, by being at home and surrounded by loved her ones; family and friends. Her brief struggle with cancer did not define the person she was, but rather exemplified the strong and courageous soul she is.

She was born Sheileagh Patricia Sarin on April 2, 1940, in Rangoon, Burma, to her father, Dr. Brahm Sarin, and mother Mable (Parr) Sarin. Sheileagh played many sports; she excelled in soccer, billiards, softball, darts and she was always a great master of the musical arts. She served a brief stint in the Armed Forces and was a lover of animals of any kind, but identified most with tigers, a testament to her fiercely free spirit. She had a knack of enduring herself to those of us most needing a sympathetic ear or a reassuring hug.

Sheileagh married her childhood sweetheart, Harry Tony Beatson, in 1959. Together they raised and nurtured two daughters and a son in their native country of Burma, Southeast Asia, before embarking on a journey to America. In hopes of accessing a better way of life for all, Sheileagh uprooted her family and began a pilgrimage that would embody the epitome of the American dream.

After having her fourth child, another daughter, Sheileagh, the free spirit, decided to venture out on her own. She gained success in completing her college education and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in social work. Sheileagh held numerous jobs and was identified through many titles throughout her adventurous and fulfilling life, yet she always stayed close to her children and never had any regrets for wanting to live her life, on her own terms.

Sheileagh loves God and knows the Holy Trinity that professes Jesus Christ as her Savior. She lived a peaceful and happy existence in the world she and our Lord carved out together.

Sheileagh is survived by her four children, Jannette Berger, Helena Carlson, Gordon MacIntosh-Beatson and her youngest daughter, Debbie Dodd. Sheileagh is also the maternal figurehead to 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many cherished friends. It is with somber, yet joyful notice that we proclaim our beloved mother, grandmother and trusted friend, Sheileagh Patricia Leens, has gone home to our Lord Jesus Christ, where we faithfully believe she resides with God himself, and prepares places for those of us she briefly left behind.

Yates Funeral Homes has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements. Please visit Sheileagh’s memorial and sign her online guestbook www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
