WARDS: Silence is deafening
Several weeks ago I wrote a letter to the editor about the Coeur d’Alene City Council. My letter concerned the fact that our council members are voted in “at large” and they are not concerned with my concerns because I am one vote. Under the ward system, the city is divided into wards and each council member comes from and has to live in the ward they represent. The members of that ward have access to their council member.
I really thought there would be some response. Three people responded to me personally that they thought it was a good idea.
I guess this explains the no interest in the City Council. I guess we get what we deserve when we don’t care what is going on in our government — be it city, county, state or federal.
