NRA: Thriving on fear
Speaking as a gun owner, I feel the recent tragedy warrants a close look at the NRA. Their power comes from making Americans afraid. We are supposed to be afraid of Muslims, any people of color, anyone who doesn’t think just like you and especially the federal government.
How scared do you have to be to have to have the ability to kill someone when you go to the store? If you have to carry a gun every time you go out, you are not brave, you are afraid and the NRA owns you.
The NRA has effectively blocked funding for the CDC to compile gun statistics. They are afraid of facts. The Second Amendment is not going away. According to the Constitution, it takes a 2/3 congressional vote and ratification by 2/3 of the states to nullify an amendment. The NRA attacks any legislator who proposes common sense gun legislation. No sportsman needs a hundred round clip or silencers. Why make it so an entire classroom can be taken out before anyone is aware?
It’s a sad thing that donations to the NRA will go up after this massacre just like they did after Sandy Hook. Fear trumps common sense.
