Dennis Erickson’s name has surfaced in connection to the vacant head football coaching position at Oregon State.
The Oregonian is reporting Erickson has contacted Oregon State about returning as the Beavers’ football coach.
Erickson, former coach at Idaho and Washington State, among other stops, would bring in Washington offensive coordinator Jonathan Smith as an assistant coach and head coach-in-waiting, the report said.
Erickson, 70, last coached as an assistant at the University of Utah in 2016. He currently lives in his home on Lake Coeur d’Alene and, this past fall, was an assistant coach for the Lake City High football team coached by his son, Bryce.
