KOPKE: A fond farewell

| November 29, 2017 12:00 AM

We recently lost an exemplary citizen, Steven Kopke. An architect by profession, he turned to real estate as a logical career path. Together with his highly able wife, Lyssa, Steven settled in Coeur d’Alene after a successful “tour of duty” with Marriott.

Never ones to avoid challenging properties, they took on the unique and those accessible by “roads less traveled.” Devoted to family and faith, he dearly loved Idaho, the University of Idaho, and his community, passions marked by steadfast fidelity.

If ever there was living proof of the “Six Degrees of Separation,” Steven was it. In a crowd of strangers, he could readily establish connections across all people present, networking done with endearing enthusiasm and genuine wonder. His affection for Idaho was boundless. An energetic advocate, he could recount endless stories associated with growing up in Idaho. Steven’s loyalty to and promotion of his alma mater was amazing. Having graduated from UI more than 35 years ago, he remained an ardent fan of all things Vandal, never forgetting the relationships established along the way.

Finally, Steven didn’t just reside in Coeur d’Alene, he knew every aspect of living in this community — its history, attributes and valued citizenry. “Leaving no stone unturned” characterized how this spirited, people-centered individual approached life; one rich in friendships and Idaho lore. Steven will be remembered for his infectious life force, good will and positive outlook, all qualities that made him the accomplished citizen he was.
