Emma Lorene (Pullin) Chase, 87

Emma went to her heavenly home on Nov. 26, 2017. She was born in Young, Ariz., on Aug. 17, 1930, to Thomas Henry Pullin and Lillie Mae Saunders. Emma grew up in the shadow of the Mogollon Rim as a rancher’s daughter. Her mother passed away when she was only 7 years of age, and left her in the care of her father and grandmother.

On Aug. 11, 1948, she married a cowboy (later turned artist), J.P. Kelley, in Holbrook, Ariz., and had a daughter, Karen. Living the nomadic lifestyle of a jack-of-all-trades cowboy, Emma, known as Rene, and later Lorie, owned and operated several businesses including cafes and motels. Emma was a ranch wife, but her primary career was bookkeeper.

She and J.P. later divorced, and a few years later she married Leland C. Chase on May 11, 1973. To her great delight she became a stepmother and grandmother to Lee’s children and grandchildren. She now had the large family she had always wanted. Emma became the caregiver and support of Lee after a plane crash left him disabled. She took on the task gladly and was rewarded with many years of love and happiness, more grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Emma leaves behind her daughter, Karen Pulis; granddaughter Brenda Kelley-Brace and grandson Colten Carnahan; daughter Carolyn Smalley; sons Stan and John Chase and their spouses, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and even great-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, at the LDS Church, 2801 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, with burial to follow at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.

English Funeral Chapel, Post Falls, has been entrusted with final arrangements. Please sign Emma’s guest registry at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
