Card wrestlers bounce back with 2 wins
- WRESTLING
COEUR d’ALENE — After suffering a setback against Clackamas Community College on Friday, North Idaho College wasn’t going to suffer a similar fate in Saturday’s Cardinal Duals at Christianson Gym.
NIC beat Umpqua 50-3, then topped Highline 40-9 in its tuneup for today’s Spokane Open at the Spokane Convention Center.
“Everyone on the team kind of got in the gym and got after it today,” NIC coach Pat Whitcomb said. “Overall, the guys are wrestling really well right now.”
The Spokane Open begins at 9 a.m., with finals scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
“It’s always a bunch of matches, but this is the kind of road trip we like to only have to go 25 minutes,” Whitcomb said. “We were pleased with the way the kids wrestled today.”
