Kim D. Tracy, 67

Kim D. Tracy, 67, passed away from cancer on Oct. 28, 2017. He was born on May 17, 1950, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to Harold D. and June A. (Burch) Tracy. Kim lived most of his life in Spokane, Wash., graduating from University High School in 1968. For the past seven years he resided in Hayden, Idaho, with his wife, Tammy.

As a young man he worked for Stinebaugh Manufacturing, in Post Falls, building LEATA cars and trucks. He then worked for many years at Thrifty Auto Parts in Spokane, before moving to Cummins Diesel Northwest in the parts department, until his retirement in 2005.

His fondest childhood memories were being out on Lake Coeur d’Alene in his grandfather’s boat watching the Diamond Cup hydroplane races. Kim played hockey for many years in a Spokane league. He loved fast cars, fast motorcycles, drag racing and at one time he owned and raced a Funny Car and Dragster. Kim also loved his Harley Davidson V-Rod motorcycle and taught his wife, Tammy, how to ride her own motorcycle. They enjoyed many rides together. He LOVED the mountains of North Idaho where they camped and explored the forests and mountains on their UTV. Kim was a huge Seahawks fan and had season tickets for 10 years.

He had a heart transplant in 2005, and was eternally grateful to the donor and Providence Sacred Heart cardiothoracic transplant team. Dogs were his best friends. He especially liked the boxer breed and had four during his lifetime, Jake, Mikey, Nick and Oliver.

Kim lived life to the fullest. His favorite quote was, “I refuse to tiptoe through life only to arrive safely at death.”

Kim is survived by his wife, Tamara, of seven years; two daughters, Angela (Steve) Spiros and Deborah (Anthony) Winham; four granddaughters, Kristen and Brooke Spiros, Ashley and Cassandra Orne; a great-granddaughter, Natalie; his father, Harold (Barbara); a sister, Lisa (Stan) Johnson; a brother, Todd (Julie); a step-sister, Beth Tracy (John) Martinez; a step-brother, Matt Tracy and best friend, Ken (Cindy) Mobley. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins, who all played an important part of his life. Kim was preceded in death by his mother, June, and first wife of 35 years, Linda.

There will be a Celebration of Life Gathering from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at the Elks Lodge on Prairie Avenue in Coeur d’ Alene.

Memorial contributions may be made to Providence Sacred Heart Foundation, Heart Transplant Fund, 101 W. 8th Ave. Spokane, WA 99204.
