VETERANS: Keep those promises
Dear Mr. President and Idaho Congressional delegation,
As Veterans Day approaches, I am reminded of campaign promises to our veterans.
Keep your promises to take care of our veterans by abandoning a cruel tax plan which will cut Medicaid and Medicare. Approximately 1.75 million veterans rely on Medicaid. Many veterans require high cost care for conditions like traumatic brain injuries and musculoskeletal disorders, and are at particular risk if Medicaid is cut. Your tax plan’s intent to balance tax cuts for the very wealthy on the backs of veterans, risks the health of veterans most in need.
The president claims the Republican tax plan will not help him, but how can we believe him when he hides his tax returns. How can we believe Senators Risch and Crapo and Congressman Labrador, when they aid and abet the president’s concealment of his financial records?
Until you expand Medicaid for the benefit of veterans and Idaho’s middle class, do not wave the flag with hollow promises to help veterans.
