Officers seek info about moose poached near Lewiston

Two moose poached near Lewiston are under investigation by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game.

The cow and calf moose were shot around Nov. 2 near the top of Coyote Grade Road east of Lewiston and only a small portion of the meat was taken, according to Fish and Game.

“The moose were likely shot from the roadway and only a portion of the meat from the calf was taken,” Conservation Officer Rick Cooper said. An anonymous caller who found the animals called the Citizen’s Against Poaching hotline. Officers were able to salvage much of the meat that had been left to waste.
