Free bike safety event June 14

| May 31, 2017 1:00 AM

Gear Up for Summer, a free bike safety event, will take place Wednesday, June 14, in Coeur d’Alene.

It will take place downtown at the intersection of Fifth Street and Lakeside Avenue at the north end of the Farmers Market.

Gear Up for Summer is hosted by First Presbyterian Church, the city of Coeur d’Alene’s Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee, the Coeur d’Alene Downtown Association, Lake City Bicycle Collective and Bike CDA.

The keys to good bike safety are simple maintenance, basic knowledge of the rules of the road, and a good, properly fitted helmet. Gear Up for Summer aims to help local children ride safely by offering free bike safety checks and basic maintenance, a free obstacle course, free helmets while supplies last, helmet fitting, a safety quiz with prizes and a special visit by Coeur d’Alene Bicycle Police Sgt. Eric Turrell.
