Bayley wins Idaho

men’s match play title

CALDWELL — Derek Bayley of Rathdrum defeated Graysen Huff 4 and 2 on Monday to win the Idaho Golf Association Men’s Match Play Championship at TimberStone Golf Course.

It was a rematch of the final of the 2016 Idaho Men’s Amateur, also won by Bayley, the former Lakeland High standout who recently completed his junior season on the Washington State golf team.

Bayley led 2 up at the turn, then chipped in for birdie on 11 to go up 3. Huff won the 15th hole, but Bayley ended it by winning the 16th hole.

Huff, who played high school golf at Eagle and recently completed his sophomore season at Auburn, was the defending men’s match play champion.

In the semifinals Bayley defeated Josh Gliege, who also played at Eagle High, and recently completed his freshman season at Texas A&M.
