Ken Stuker, 79

Ken Stuker, 79, passed away at home in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on May 22, 2017.

Ken was born in Coeur d’Alene on Jan. 5, 1938, to Christian and Era Elena (Scarborough) Stuker. Ken was a lifetime resident of Coeur d’Alene. He joined the Air Force at 17 years old. After his discharge in 1957, he returned to Coeur d’Alene and went to work for the Highway Department. Ken attended the University of California and Idaho State University Business College. He married Wilda Smith and together they had two children, Janice and Shawn. They later divorced and he raised the two children working as a full-time police officer and putting himself through Gonzaga University where he earned a master’s degree. He then worked as a probation officer, a juvenile social worker for the Department of Health and Welfare, and he owned and operated a Pawn Shop. He met Wendy Woods and they were married in Coeur d’Alene on Nov. 17, 1984. Before his retirement, he worked as a PSR caregiver.

Ken was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder-day Saints, Kootenai Masonic Lodge No. 24 A.F. & A.M., and the VFW Post 889. He enjoyed going to yard sales and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Wendy of Coeur d’Alene; two children: daughter Jan Bryant of Henderson, Nev., and son Shawn and his wife, Sarah Stuker of Coeur d’Alene; grandchildren Laura, Jeremy, Blake, Tyler, Dylan, Shilah and Isaiah; four great-grandchildren; brother Earl Stuker of Midvale, Utah; four sisters: Sally Schroeder of Layton, Utah, Lennie Semonin of Champaign, Ill., Kay Arvanetias of Buena Park, Calif., and Lula Pulton of Vernal, Utah.

Ken is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Irvin Stuker and Herman Stuker; and sister Cecilia Teter.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene. The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Forest Cemetery, 1011 N. Government Way, Coeur d’Alene.
