Walton, a senior, won the 400-meter dash in 48.33 seconds during the state 5A track and field meet on Saturday at Dona Larsen Park in Boise. “I knew it was really close,” said Walton, who dove across the finish line for the win. “I looked over out of the corner of my eyes and saw a couple of kids. I saw I was really close and I told myself if I wanted to do it, I had to dive. Just to make sure. Then I could tell myself I gave it everything.”
