Pedestrian killed Sunday on U.S. 95

An Oklahoma woman was killed Sunday evening when she struck by a vehicle while standing on U.S. 95 north of Hayden.

Idaho State Police report that Velvette R. Skaggs, 37, of Comanche, Oklahoma, was by a 2003 Dodge Durango driven by Travis M. Storms, 38, of Athol. The crash occurred around 9:42 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. 95 and Garwood Road. Skaggs was standing in the middle of the northbound lanes of the highway, for unknown reasons, according to ISP. She was fatally injured at the scene.

Notification was made to the victim’s family. The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department and English Funeral Home of Post Falls assisted at the scene. An investigation continues by the Idaho State Police.
