Lake City advances to state 'final four'

COEUR d’ALENE — Lake City put crosstown rival Coeur d’Alene in a quick hole Tuesday, rolling its way to a 11-2 rout and a North Idaho lacrosse title at Lake City High School.

The Timberwolves (12-2) punched their ticket to the four-team state playoffs. Lake City travels to Boise where it will face Meridian (11-8) at 7 p.m. Friday for a trip to the championship game.

Coeur d’Alene ended its season at 7-6.

Matt Duchow paced the Timberwolves with two goals and two assists, helping his team jump out to 4-1 first quarter lead.

Danny Torres recorded a hat trick and Josh Brown added two goals for Lake City, which edged the Vikings 6-5 in overtime last week.

Lake City goalie Lucas Briner tallied 11 saves.
