Tony Edward Vranich, 78

Tony was born Jan. 4, 1939, in Rapid City, S.D., and most recently lived in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where he passed peacefully May 10, 2017, with his family at his side.

Tony was the sixth child born to Roberta and Chris Vranich. He had three older brothers, Frederick Vranich, Chris Vranich and Charles Vranich; two older sisters, Ann Reiter and Delaine Richardson; one younger brother, Peter Vranich and one younger sister, Louella Schmaltz. He had a half-brother, Jim Pollack and half-sister Vi Hanson.

Tony started working at an early age in Keystone, S.D., doing various jobs including mining. He later moved to Mountlake Terrace, Wash., where he worked many years in construction in the drywall industry. In his later years he moved to the Silver Valley in Idaho where he lived for 12 years before moving to the Coeur d’Alene area. He enjoyed many outdoor activities including camping, fishing, hunting and 4 wheel drive expeditions with his family. He had a passion for and owned several four-wheel drive rag top jeeps.

Tony was a dedicated, hard working, kind-hearted, loving man who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving partner of 16 years, Sylvia Reasor; four children: daughter Tanja Vranich and her partner, Paul Bulgier of Washington, son Tony (Kim) Vranich Washington, son Todd (Leslee) Vranich of Washington and daughter Wendy (Dennis) Williams of Idaho; his sister, Louella (Ken) Schmaltz of Washington; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A celebration of his life service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Affinity, 3594 N. Cedarblom St., Coeur d’Alene.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden, ID 83835.
