QPROM happening Friday in Coeur d'Alene

| May 16, 2017 1:00 AM

COEUR d’ALENE — The North Idaho Pride Alliance will host “A Night Out with the Stars,” the second QPROM event, Friday, May 19 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Lake City Center, 1916 Lakewood Drive, Coeur d’Alene.

“QPROM is a chance for those in the LGBTQ and Allied community to attend a dance and be themselves in a safe, supportive and fun environment, whereas they might not have been able to at other events,” said Caleb Weeks, North Idaho Pride Alliance’s Team Leader. “This event is open to people of all ages, genders, and sexualities and is held in an atmosphere where they can mingle with old friends, make new acquaintances, and be a part of a supportive community... All we ask for is a positive attitude and an open heart and mind.”

Reese Beard, 16, attended last year’s QPROM in Coeur d’Alene.

“I’ve been to a different prom before and it certainly did not have the relaxed, inclusive feel that this did. I didn’t go with a date, but I felt no pressure to,” Beard said. “It was a great time to hang out with friends and feel better connected with the LGBT+ community of North Idaho. I know I’ll be going again.”

Tickets are $20 for students and $30 for non-students (includes food and beverage) and will be available at the event.
