Ruth Helen Rissling, 87

Ruth was born May 8, 1929, in Milwaukee, Wis., to the parents of Edward and Mary Guzinski. She was one of 15 children. Ruth married her late husband, Ervin Rissling, on Oct. 4, 1950. They were married for 53 years.

During her lifetime, Ruth was a homemaker, a loving mother, and had been employed at several factory jobs to help support the family. In 1955, Ruth and her husband moved to Southern California, where they raised two children. In 1980, Ruth and Erv, moved to Pembine, Wis., to help take care of her mother-in-law. After the passing of her husband, in 2003, Ruth moved to Grass Valley, Calif., to be near her son, Roy, and later moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to be near her daughter Bonnie, and Roy soon after moved to Coeur d’Alene also.

Ruth was an avid reader and loved to do crossword puzzles and word searches. She enjoyed listening to music especially polka music. One of her passions was to watch Lawrence Welk every Saturday evening so she could get up and dance. She was an active member in the local Catholic Church and religiously said the rosary every day. She loved her family and friends and her wit and humor will be missed by all.

She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie (Thomas) Keenan of Coeur d’Alene; her son, Roy Rissling of Coeur d’Alene; her grandson, Shawn Keenan of Coeur d’Alene; and grandson Jay (Michelle) Keenan of San Ramon, Calif.; and four great-grandchildren Kai, Kaleia, Liana and Cristina. She is also survived by one sister, Doris Ramsey of Las Vegas, Nev.

A funeral Mass to celebrate her life will be held at noon Friday, May 19, 2017, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 625 E. Haycraft Ave., Coeur d’Alene. Graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2017, at St. Thomas Cemetery.
