Daniel L. Barton, 65

Dan Barton passed away Friday, May 5, 2017, in Boise, Idaho. He was born in Spokane, Wash., on May 19, 1951, to Eldon Lee and Mercedes Barton.

He grew up in the Spokane area and graduated from Ferris High School in 1970. He attended Northwood University in Michigan receiving an associate’s degree, and completed his bachelor’s in business at Whitworth in Spokane in 1975. He married Norma Haverkamp in February 1975.

Dan went to work with his father at the family car dealership. Then in 1977 together with Norma, he purchased the Cadillac and Oldsmobile dealership in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, which they owned until 2003. After a very short retirement, Dan and Norma opened an Ace Hardware in north Spokane, which they still own.

Dan enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren, and could be seen swimming, huckleberry picking, riding bikes, boating, or just hanging around the house together. Dan also loved anything with an engine from cars to boats to airplanes.

Dan is preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother; wife; his son, Chris; daughters Stacy and Jennifer; and four grandchildren, Zoey, Toby, Aiden, and Grace who’s expected in July.
