Realtors bring back Paint the Town Blue campaign

| May 9, 2017 1:00 AM

The Coeur d’Alene Association of Realtors is once again honoring and commemorating members of the law enforcement community during the month of May with its Paint the Town Blue campaign.

“Our focus is helping the community show their gratitude toward the men and women in Idaho who risk their lives to protect all of us and ensure safety for our families and communities,” said the association’s announcement of this year’s campaign.

Last year in May during Police Week, Realtors in the Coeur d’Alene area distributed 7,700 blue light bulbs to community members and raised $5,500 for the Kootenai County Police & Firefighter Memorial Foundation.

This year the Realtors have traded in the blue light bulbs for blue pinwheels.

Those interested in showing their support for the police can pick up a blue pinwheel from a Realtor or participating real estate brokerage. The pinwheels can be placed in front yards or planters.

Distribution began Friday, May 5, the anniversary of Coeur d’Alene Police Sgt. Greg Moore’s death, and will conclude May 21, the end of Police Week.

Donations are accepted and proceeds will go to the Kootenai County Police & Firefighter Memorial Foundation.
