Cal Butterfield, 72, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away May 1, 2017. Cal was born Dec. 20, 1944, in Coeur d’Alene to Leonard H. Butterfield and Vivian T. Gurnee Butterfield.

Cal enlisted in the Army in 1962-1966. In 1969, he married Sharon A. Remley of Harrison, Idaho, at the Coeur d’Amore Wedding Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. They lived on the Harrison Flats while Cal worked for Bunker Hill Mines and the railroad. They moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1975 and had two beautiful children: Bret H. He started his own fishing charter service, Inland Charter Service, in 1986 and worked for Interstate Concrete and Asphalt until he retired in 2013.

Cal loved to fish, hunt, camp and spend time with his family, especially his grandson, Aiden Cal Butterfield of Coeur d’Alene.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; sister Sharon A. Houston of Coeur d’Alene; niece Debbie Reynart of Michigan; great-niece Darby Reynart of Michigan; son Bret H. Butterfield and wife Sarah of Coeur d’Alene; and daughter Marie A. Butterfield and husband Randy of Coeur d’Alene. Cal struggled with many serious health issues over the last eight years and underwent numerous struggles; yet through it all, he kept his sharp wit and sense of humor he was known for. He will be missed dearly, but his loved ones will always have the memories of what a great man, amazing father, loving husband, caring brother, wonderful grandfather he was.
