Post Falls boys, girls prevail at Lakeland invite

Tanner Byers shot a 3-under-par 68 to lead Post Falls to the boys team title at the Lakeland Invitational on Friday at The Links in Post Falls.

Post Falls shot 293, eight strokes better than second-place Coeur d’Alene, which saw Chase Mitchell tie for third with a 70.

In the girls tourney, at Twin Lakes Village, Savannah Routh of Post Falls earned medalist honors with an 87 to lead the Trojans to the team title. Post Falls had four of the top six finishers and shot 371; Coeur d’Alene was second at 390. Maddie Anderton-Graham of Post Falls was third with a 90, and Jessica Fahy of Coeur d’Alene was fourth at 91.

State-qualifying tournaments are scheduled for Monday — the 5A Region 1 tournament at the Lewiston Country Club; the 4A Region 1 tournament at The Idaho Club outside Sandpoint; the 3A District 1 tournament at Pinehurst Golf Course; and the 2A District 1-2 tournament at The Links.

RATHDRUM — The host Hawks led 6-5 in the bottom of the fourth inning when the game was called due to rain.

With state-qualifying tournaments looming, it will not be resumed.

JJ Mackesy and Dylan Bradbury each had two-out two-run base hits for Lakeland.

Bonners Ferry will play host to Kellogg on Monday in the first round of the 3A District 1 tournament.

Lakeland returns to action next Thursday in the championship game of the 4A Region 1 tourney. The Hawks will play the winner of Tuesday’s game pitting Moscow at Sandpoint.
