Labrador town hall tonight

| May 5, 2017 1:00 AM

COEUR d’ALENE — U.S. Rep. Raul Labrador, R-Idaho, will host a town hall gathering tonight at Lake City High School.

The event in the school auditorium is scheduled to begin at 6:30. Lake City High is located at 6101 N. Ramsey Road, Coeur d’Alene.

Labrador, a co-founder and driving force behind the conservative Freedom Caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives, arrives in town almost immediately after voting for passage of the controversial American Health Care Act — the Republican effort to repeal and replace Obamacare.

Labrador is holding a public meeting this morning in Lewiston, then coming to Coeur d’Alene.

“There is no set limit for how long this will go,” Labrador spokesman Dan Popkey said of the town hall at Lake City High. “Rep. Labrador often has stayed at events like this until everything has been discussed, and right now there is a lot in the news that involves the Freedom Caucus, and protecting the future of the whole country — so I’m pretty sure he won’t be in any hurry to leave.”
