'Take Me Fishing' trailer is on the road again

| May 4, 2017 1:00 AM

The months of May and June will be very busy for Fish and Game’s “Take Me Fishing” trailer, with 30 public fishing events scheduled throughout the Panhandle Region.

The first week of May includes events on May 4 at Hauser Lake (3-6 p.m.), and May 6 at Fernan Lake (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.).

The following week will feature Hayden Lake on May 9 at Sportsman’s Park from 3-6 p.m., Fernan Lake (Fernan Village boat launch) on May 11 from 3-6 p.m., and Falls Park in Post Falls May 13 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The events are all completely free. All you need to do is show up, and no reservations are needed. A fishing license is not required by any participant registering at the trailer for the duration of the event regardless of age or residency. Equipment is available to be checked out and bait is even provided for free. Best of all, the events are scheduled in waters where there are a lot of fish and high catch rates.

Everyone is welcome at these events, especially those who have an interest in fishing but do not have fishing equipment or don’t know good places to go fishing.

To learn more about the trailer, contact the Fish and Game Panhandle Region office, (208) 769-1414. A complete statewide fishing trailer schedule is available at http://idfg.idaho.gov. Bookmarks with event details and dates are being distributed through local schools, so check with your youngster to see if they received one that you can post on your refrigerator.

The trailer has been traveling the Panhandle Region for more than five years now, offering people the opportunity to try fishing for the first time; or, to rekindle the excitement and fun of fishing for those who like to fish but haven’t fished in a while.
