David James Ramsey, 22

David James Ramsey touched many lives in the brief 22 years he was granted here on Earth. He was born in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to Lisa and Wally Ramsey on Dec. 26, 1994.

He graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 2013, and played trumpet in their marching band. He worked for two years at Sunshine Minting, where he made many friends. He left to pursue his dream of working in the forest service. He was so happy about his upcoming job at Priest Lake State Park and was full of plans for his future, and was going to learn everything he could from the park rangers, as his goal was to return to North Idaho College and pursue a degree in forestry.

He died doing what he loved while on a hiking weekend with his mother. Tragically he slipped and fell into the river near Yaak Falls while taking his beloved nature photos.

He is survived by his mother, Lisa Ramsey; her husband, Billy Fletcher; and David’s beloved brother, Kyle Ramsey, all whom he lived with. Also his much loved grandparents, Donald and Barbara Davis; and uncle John Davis. He was preceded in death by his father and hero, Walter Ramsey; and his adored grandmother, Hazel Kile Ramsey. He leaves behind a large extended family and an amazing set of friends whom he loved like family.

David was funny, he was kind, his heart was bigger than could fit in his giant 6-foot-5 body. He had a fantastic sense of humor, a huge heart and a gentle soul. His love of life is what we choose to remember, and his tragic death will never erase the fact that he would want us all to live long and adventure-filled lives. Peace and love to all of you friends and family who are suffering along with us right now.

“Be not afraid; I go before you always; come and follow me, and I will give you rest.”

Memorial service to be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 625 E. Haycraft Ave., Coeur d’Alene.
